Love and Forever and Sotterley Plantation

I am pretty sure Hannah and Joey have been together for forever. They have celebrated so many firsts together, and this beautiful September day was an especially wonderful first. They celebrated a first kiss, a first dance, a first in rockin parties with their friends and families as husband and wife.  My favorite thing about Hannah is her ability to roll with life. From broken zippers, to marching in fields of tall grass, to splashing champagne all over, well my camera. This girl is just up for anything, and able to keep her cool to boot. Joey honestly, is the same way. I don’t know if these two could compliment each other any better. I am so happy I was able to share in their Southern Maryland wedding at SotterleyPlantation. From water views, to glorious gardens, yard games, a rustic barn, and singing with a microphone, this wedding was a blast and absolute perfection! Congratulations to you both! I couldn’t be happier for you!!

A Little Wedding Rain, and a Whole Lot of Love

I love what I do, I love the people I meet, and getting to share in their story, and their love for one another. Every couple I have had the honor to photograph has been a joy to know. But there are some people that after the wedding, you think, wow I will really miss that girl. Rachael, has me rollin. I love this girl. She is carefree, up for whatever, and just such a ray of sunshine to be around. From the first day I met them in my studio, I felt we all where a great match. Fast forward to the engagement session, and my face has never hurt so much from smiling. Marshall has some killer catwalk style, and they are just so at home with one another, so carefree. It makes me happy to just hang out with the both of them. So, yes, we did have buckets of rain during their wedding at The Barn at Cage Stables in St. Leonard, MD, but during their ceremony, it’s like it didn’t dare upset the sunshine we all felt, not a drop or rain, just joy, love, and laughter. <3

Pink, Grey, and Paradise at Herrington on the Bay!

Exquisite taste is the first think I think of when I think of Tracy. Adventurous, travel lover, and dog love, are close behind. Needless to say she and Collin are my type of people. I remember listening to Collin talk about Tracy during their vows. He spoke about how much she learns about the people she comes in contact with, even if it is just for a moment, how she can really get to know someone. She listens, she cares. It’s true, at the end of the night, I told her I was going on vacation for a week, but I would be working hard to get her photos done quickly all the same. She responds (even after drinks and one of the most magical and long days of her life ) by asking where we were going and how lovely it would be. And she is really looking, and really listening. This girl has such a great big fabulous heart.

Their day was so hot to begin with, but we were lucky that it wasn’t pouring. Yet somehow how right before their ceremony, the temperature dropped 20 degrees and felt a little more like a fall day. Herrington on the Bay is a tropical paradise right in the middle of Maryland. And Tracy’s selections of soft pinks and grays are so complimentary(the bridesmaids dresses are stunning in that color pallet.) It was such a wonderful day, perfection really.  I am so happy to have met both her and Collin. Congratulations you two! I wish you many wonderful adventures together!!

What struck me most about Lexie and Marin when I met them was how absolutely in tune they were to one another, and compassionate. They are so very aware of the other, and what they were thinking. Maybe that is what happens when you spend 7 years or so with the person you love. You just grow and grow with one another, making each other better, refining one another. I love how they both are gentle and strong, how they are easy going yet planners. Lexie wanted bright colors, and the bridesmaids each had their own personal touch in choosing their dresses. And I love how even with the array of color in the bridesmaids dresses, Lexie pulled it all together, finding the perfect bow tie and jacket for the men. They chose to get married at St John’s College in Annapolis where they met. Lexie got ready with her college friends in their old dorm rooms. What a way for to really celebrate the journey you have been on with your dearest friends and your soon to be hubby and wife. I love how family and friends came from near and far (Far being Croatia!- Side note- This was even while Croatia was currently winning their game during the World Cup. What dedication!) These two have obviously made an impact with those around them, and I am so happy for the two of them as they continue their journey together as husband and wife. Congratulations to you both!!

Haley-Jean and Steve’s Backyard Garden Wedding

To understand the love I have for photographing this garden wedding on the Patuxent in Southern Maryland, you have to understand a little bit about Steve and Haley-Jean. These two met on a blind date through a friend, they have stayed together through travels, and underway deployments. They were married in a church ceremony on the anniversary of both of their parents, June 28th. That’s right, Steve’s parents, Haley’s parents, and now Steve and Haley all share an anniversary. I went to Charleston to photograph, a couple whom all I knew about them was she was a lovely dancer, and Steve was a handsome officer in the Coast Guard. The two people I met are inspiring. Their determination, their passion for life, and their love for one another are a joy to be around. I love how they are both so family oriented, and I especially love, that I got to play with Kingston their rescue pup for photos twice. <3 I could go on and on about Haley and Steve’s wedding, starting with how her mom searched high and low for all the antique eclectic china patterns for probably a year, or how her mother made her veil, or her grandmother making the skirt for her walk down the aisle. Then there is also the fact that the venue is Steve’s family home, nestled beautifully in Southern Maryland right on the water. Did I mention their Mama Mia dance led by Haley and her 85 year old grandmother??  To cap it off we have an epic send off of fireworks and a boat departure. What an amazing night, what an amazing couple and family. Congratulations you two! I am so thrilled to share these photos, and these memories with you all.
