First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage, Then Comes…

My most favorite thing about being a wedding photographer is creating new friendships and sharing in some of the best moments of my clients’ lives. I have photographed Kayla’s wedding in 2016, her sister’s wedding, several of her best friends weddings, and their babies, and now I get to share in Kayla’s soon to be family of three. We did a few photos on the beach and a few in studio. I had a new white maternity dress that I wanted to test, out and I knew just the girl for the job. Thank you Kayla for always bringing your A game. See you in about 4 weeks!!! <3

Lyndsay and Michael’s Epic Summer Wedding at the Newseum in DC

As I stare out at the beautiful snow on this second day of spring, my mind went to warmer thoughts. Summer, roof top bar and dancing with views of the Capitol, rocking out to the sounds of Billy Joel, by Billy Joe’s actual band. Michael and Lyndsay’s wedding was a dream to photograph. We started the day at the George for getting ready photos, then took the party bus to the National War Memorial for the ceremony. I loved the teal and pink that Lyndsay incorporated through out her wedding, vibrant and elegant, the two colors were as perfect together as the day. We then went around DC visiting the Lincoln Memorial and the Jefferson for some photos, then on to the Newsuem to party the night away. I still dream of Wolf Gang Puck’s chicken and waffles, swoon. These two are such a fun and classy couple. One of the cutest things about their wedding was how everyone just wanted to surprise one another. Lyndsay’s dad surprised her by hiring Billy Joel’s band to play during cocktail hour, and Lyndsay surprised Michael, an avid Nationals fan, to having the presidents come and party the night with them. I am so thankful I was able to share their day with them! I can’t believe we are coming up to your first anniversary! Best of luck to you both, and a lifetime of amazing experiences, new things, and much much happiness.

Abby and Lee at the Belmont Estate

Beautiful, kind, and a woman in charge are some of the first words that come to mind when I think of Abby. Lee is all these things as well, but I would say his easy going personality compliments Abby in every way. I love Abby’s sense of style. The bright pink bridesmaids dresses, bow tie, the garden style bouquet, the pink coated champagne glasses. There are so many wonderfully elegant touches that go so well with the Belmont Estate’s classic decor and grounds. One of my most favorite moments about their wedding was when it started pouring just a little too hard for comfort, and Abby decided smack in the middle of the ceremony that we were moving this show under the tent. So we all ran for cover and grabbed what we could and had them share their vows in the gorgeous tent they had decorated. I know most brides don’t look forward to rain on their wedding day, but that moment endeared Abby to me even more. I am so thrilled for these two, and am happy to say they will be celebrating their first Anniversary this June!!

A waterfront wedding at the Silver Swan

I have photographed the Silver Swan many times, and this is one of the most beautiful I have seen it decorated. Jen has such attention to detail, and thoroughly embraced the beach feel, in a lovely fresh way. I love the seashells and seahorses on cake, the netting intertwined with seashells for center pieces. And her coral and teal colors are bright and romantic for her summer wedding.  I can imagine that attention to detail comes in handy for her military career. It probably even came into play when realizing Tony was the man for her. These two have much in common, and at the same time, balance one another out with their differences. You can see  how they ebb and flow with one another, and are so smitten. I love that not just two people have joined together, but two families. It really is amazing when you find the one you love. It is so much more, when you love not only them, but their loved ones. Congratulations you two!

Warmer Days, Engaged in Charleston, South Carolina

I have been meaning to blog this engagement session since September. Now that we are past our 5 degree freeze, and 32 degrees is practically jacket weather, I have decided that this warm front is just the thing to remind me of my wonderful vacation, I mean photo session in Charleston this past fall. Nothing could keep me away from going down to beautiful Charleston to photograph ballet dancer, Haley-Jean and her fiance Steve. Not the fact there was a hurricane coming, not the fact that I had to drive down with twin 6 month olds in the car, or even the fact that Steve, may not be able to make the session. (Though that one, would have put a slight damper on our plans). Still, Haley-Jean and I moved our session up a day so that Steve could be there, before being called out for the Coast Guard, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. These two have such a sweet easiness to their relationship. And their love of dogs is just icing on this already perfect cake! I mean, our session pretty much took place in the middle of a dog park! (Who knew that White Point Gardens let dogs run around certain times of the day?! I didn’t, but I love it!). I loved getting to know these two, and am so thankful for their laid back personalities. Thank you both for just rolling with it, and thank you Haley-Jean for your amazing dance moves! (You too Steve 😉 )
